Doug A. Allen

Lincoln Faculty since 2007. The Law of Politics.

Professor Allen received B. A. and Masters Degree from San Jose State University, in Political Science, with an emphasis on American Politics, and his Juris Doctorate From the University of Santa Clara Law School.  He has had an extensive trial and appellate practice in complex litigation for 25 years, has tried over a hundred cases, and ten of his cases resulted in published opinions in the Courts of Appeal.  He has served as a registered lobbyist to the California Legislature for 10 years. A member of the Semi Pro Football Hall of Fame, he continues to coach high school football. He is a member of one of San Jose's pioneer families.

Ted Biagini

Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Honors Jurisprudence Seminar/Tutorial.

Santa Clara University B.S. ’62, J.D. ’64. He is on the board of Downtown College Prep. In addition, he has served on SCU’s Board of Regents and the National Alumni Board, has been a member of the Law School’s Board of Visitors, and has served on the Dean’s Leadership Council and the Center for Global Law and Policy Advisory Board.With the goal of becoming a business consultant, Biagini studied business and accounting and then enrolled in SCU’s "3/3" program, allowing him to obtain his undergraduate and law degrees in six years. He worked as an accountant during law school, made law review, and upon graduation was presented the Chargin Award, honoring the student with the highest grade point average. Biagini’s career has been a patchwork of tax law, real estate development, and insurance. In 1979, he and law school classmate Phil DiNapoli started their first bank, Plaza Bank of Commerce. They founded another one last year—Focus Business Bank, which raised so much in capital—$27.5 million—it exceeded its capital limits and had to return $13 million to investors. In 2004 he enrolled in an LL.M. program, again at Santa Clara Law, in comparative and international law. His purpose: to study at Oxford, where he had always wanted to "read law." In 1998, he enrolled in a master’s program at Stanford, where he spent five years taking evening seminars in the liberal arts. For his Master of Liberal Arts thesis, he chose Machiavelli and did research in Italy, including extensive reading in Italian.


Superior Court Judge Thang Barrett (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 2002. Advanced Criminal Law Seminar.
Judge Barrett is a graduate of Hastings College of Law and a Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge. He is the first Vietnamese-American to be appointed to the Bench in the United States. In a short period of time, Judge Barrett has distinguished himself as a brilliant jurist on both the civil and criminal side of the Court.

Bradley A. Bening

Lincoln Faculty since 2006.  Torts.

Mr. Bening received his J. D. from University of California, Davis. Mr. Bening is the Founding Partner of Willoughby Stuart & Bening where he specializes in trial practice, mediation and business litigation.

Mark G. Bonino
Lincoln Faculty since 2004. Moot Court.
Mr. Bonino is a partner in the law firm of Hayes, Davis, Bonino, Ellingson, McLay and Scott in Redwood City.  Formerly, he was co-chairman of the Ropers Majeski Kohn and Bentley Appellate, Insurance Coverage, and Bad Faith Department.  He has handled more than 400 appeals to completion.  Mr. Bonino has argued a number of important cases before the California Supreme Court and California Courts of Appeal including: Privette v. Superior Court (1993) 5 Cal. 4th 689 and North Co. Contractors v. Touchstone (1994) 27 Cal. App. 4th 1085.  Mr. Bonino's J.D. is from Santa Clara University School of Law.


Alison Brunner (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 2001. Civil Procedure.
Ms. Brunner received her B. A. from UCLA and her J. D. from Santa Clara University. She is Directing Attorney for the Mental Health Advocacy Project (MHAP) which is a program of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley. Ms. Brunner served as Legislative Assistant to U. S. House of Representatives Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren.

Alison P. Buchanan

Lincoln Faculty since 2007. Professional Responsibility.

A litigator with Hoge, Fenton, Jones & Appel, Ms. Buchanan received her J.D. degree with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law (Illinois Institute of Technology) and her B.A. from University of California, Irvine in Criminology. At Hoge, Fenton she is known for expertise in legal ethics. She sits as Vice-Chair of the Law-Related Education Committee of the Santa Clara County Bar Association.


Christine A. Burdick (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 1995. Professional Responsibility. Ms. Burdick received her B. A., with Honors, and her J. D. from Brigham Young University. Formerly General Counsel and Chief Disciplinary Counsel for the Utah State Bar, Ms. Burdick is currently the Executive Director and General Counsel for the Santa Clara County Bar Association.

Richard D. Capparella (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 2000.  Securities Regulations.

Mr. Capparella has a B. A. from Syracuse University and a J. D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He served with the SEC as attorney for Commissioner Norman Johnson when Mr. Johnson was a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Guy J. Caputo

Lincoln Faculty since 2005. California Commercial Landlord and Tenant Law.

Mr. Caputo received his B.A. from Fairfield University and his J.D. from the University of Santa Clara. He began his career in commercial banking where he was a bank officer. He later served as Coordinating Attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Santa Clara County. Currently in private practice, with an emphasis in Criminal Law, landlord-tenant law and bankruptcy, Mr. Caputo has previously taught at both the college and law school level.

Theodore R. Chavez (On Leave)

Lincoln Faculty since 2005.  Advanced Business Organization.

Mr. Chavez received his J.D. from Lincoln University School of Law (now known as Lincoln Law School of San Jose).

Timothy G. Cleary

Lincoln Faculty since 2007. Community Property.

A graduate of Westmont College (B.A.) Mr. Clearly has a M.A. in English from San Francisco State, an M.B.A. in Finance from Santa Clara University and a J.D. degree from Monterey College of Law. A member of the California Bar, he is a Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning.

Francis R. Cole

Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Academic Support Program. Business Organizations.

An honor graduate of Lincoln Law School of San Jose where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, Mr. Cole was salutatorian of his class. During law school he labored as a journeyman sheet metal worker. A highly successful practicing attorney, he exemplifies both the mission and success of our School and is an exemplar of the fulfillment of its purpose.

Superior Court Judge Linda R. Condron (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 1990. Evidence.
Judge Condron received her J. D. from Lincoln University School of Law (now Lincoln Law School of San Jose). She was a Deputy District Attorney in the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office and now serves as a Judge of the Superior Court in Santa Clara County.

Edward Dangler

Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Admiralty Law.

A graduate of the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College with a B.S. degree, he has a MBA from U.S. International University and a J.D. from Western Sierra Law School.  Retiring from the U.S. Navy as a Captain, Captain Dangler has served as Master of numerous sea going vessels. From 1977 through 1982, he was a Technical Advisor to the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. In 2003 he was appointed by the State of California , Department of Fish and Game as the Office of Spill Prevention and Response's Harbor Safety Committee's voluntary legal counsel. A California lawyer, he is resident maritime consultant in the San Francisco law office of Kaye, Rose & Maltzman, LLP.

Mark E. Davis
Lincoln Faculty since 2004. Torts.
Mr. Davis is an experienced civil trial attorney.  His practice primarily involves defending public entities, particularly school districts, in tort litigation and employment litigation matters.  He has handled cases involving allegations of negligent supervision, employee harassment, peer-to-peer harassment, child molestation, employment discrimination and wrongful termination.  He has served as a court-appointed arbitrator and as a Judge Pro Tem for nearly 20 years. Along with Professor Needham with whom he practices, he has been publicly recognized as one of California's finest attorneys.  His J.D. is from University of California, Los Angeles Law School.

Frank Orrand Denby
Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Consultant to the Dean on the Bar of Examination of the State of California and Preparation for the Examination.

An honor graduate of USC in Accounting, Mr. Denby holds an MBA in Tax from Golden Gate and a J.D. from Lincoln. A practicing CPA and Attorney he has served as Managing Partner of Moss Adams, CEO of a high technology start-up, a bank founder (Commerce Security Bank in Sacramento) and Director of Tax Planning for Golden West Financial Corporation, the parent of World Savings. He has managed a portfolio of $100 Million of investments in corporate debt security. As a law student he became fasinated with the California Bar Examination and the various courses offered outside of law school to prepare for it. He has made that study a serious part of his intellectual portfolio and brings the same to the School and its students.



Francis B. Doyle
Lincoln Faculty since 1990. Wills & Trusts; Real Property I.
Mr. Doyle received his B. A. from Santa Clara University, his M. S. in Taxation from Golden Gate University and his J. D. from University of San Francisco School of Law. Formerly an attorney with the law firm of Hoge, Fenton, Jones & Appel, Inc., Mr. Doyle is currently in private practice, specializing in tax, trust and estate matters. Mr. Doyle has also taught similar courses at Golden Gate University and the Santa Clara University, Institute of Paralegal Education.

Judith M. Ebenhahn

Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Family Law.

Ms. Ebenhahn received her B.A. from San Jose State with honors

in English, and in 1983 her J.D. from Lincoln Law School in San

Jose, at which she was co-valedictorian and a recipient of the

President’s Award. Ms. Ebenhahn has been a California State Bar

certified family law specialist since 1992. She has served on

the Family Law Inter-County Council and currently belongs to the

Silicon Valley Collaborative Practice Group as well as the QDRONES, a national pension study group.

Arthur J. Gemmell

Lincoln Faculty since 2006, International Law; Conflict of Laws.At the conclusion of his career in international business, Mr. Gemmell received his J.D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose, an LL.M in International Law from Santa Clara University, and received his S.J.D. in International Law at Golden Gate University. Mr. Gemmell has studied International Law at Oxford University, Aberdeen University (Scotland), and at The Institut International des Droits de L'Homme in Strasbourg, France. He is the recipient of a Practice Diploma in International Arbitration from the College of England and Wales. He has lectured on and has authored writings on the subjects of foreign investment and international arbitration. and also teaches at Golden Gate University School of Law.

David Jay Greenspan (On Leave)

Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Entertainment Law.

Mr. Greenspan received his B.A. from Muhlenberg College, attended the University of Lancaster in England and earned his J.D. from Syracuse University and is a member of the New York Bar. He has previously taught Entertainment Law at Hastings College of the Law. He has served as Director of Legal Affairs for Sony Interactive Studios America/989 Studios, Trimark Pictures/Trimark Interactive CA, Troma Pictures ( New York ), Vice-President for Business Affairs at Midway Games and has been published in the ABA 's Entertainment and Sports Lawyer, and The Antitrust Bulletin.

Sterling Harwood.

On Lincoln Faculty since 2007. Legal Reasoning; Legal Philosophy.

Ph.D. in Philosophy, 1992, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY; M.A. in Philosophy, 1986, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY; .J.D. in Law, 1983, Cornell Law School, Ithaca, NY. B.A. in Philosophy, 1980, magna cum laude, with general honors and highest honors in philosophy, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.  He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in his Junior year. Among other institutions of higher learning Professor Harwood has taught at the Cornell Law School, and San Jose State where he was an Assistant Professor in the philosophy department. He is author of numerous publications including Judicial Activism, A Restrained Defense which is being republished by the University Press of America. A member of the California Bar, he practices law in San Jose.


Roberta S. Hayashi
Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Employment Law.
Ms. Hayashi was a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop in the Employment and Labor and Litigation groups and is now a partner with Berliner Cohen in San Jose.  Her practice focuses on representing employers, ranging from small professional corporations to "Fortune 500" companies in employment and business litigation.  Ms. Hayashi was recently appointed to a three-year term as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.  She was President of the Santa Clara County Bar Association in 1996, served for ten years on the Board of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, and was its President during 2001-2004.  She has long been considered one of the finest attorneys in her area of expertise. She has a B.A. from Stanford and her J.D. is from University of California, Davis School of Law.

Whitnie C. Henderson

Lincoln Faculty since 2007. Legislative Advocacy and Statutory Law.

Ms. Henderson is a legislative advocate and attorney for the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) in Sacramento, where she advocates on behalf of public water agencies throughout the state. Prior to joining ACWA, Ms. Henderson was the legislative project coordinator in the Judicial Council of California, Office of Governmental Affairs. Ms. Henderson received her J.D. from San Francisco School of Law. Ms. Henderson served as managing editor of the law review and authored an article titled, Move–Away Cases: (Custodial Parent v. Noncustodial Parent) v. Child, Whose Best Interest Should Prevail When There is a Conflict?  7 San Francisco L.Rev. 107 (1997). Ms. Henderson is a former chair of the State Bar of California’s Committee of Bar Examiners.


Gregory D. Hull
Lincoln Faculty since 1999. Trial Practice.
Mr. Hull received his B. A. from Santa Clara University and his J. D. with honors from the University of San Francisco Law School. He has been a trial lawyer for over 25 years and has taught Trial Practice at Golden Gate University and is a frequent lecturer for the Continuing Education of the Bar on trial practice, settlement and negotiations. He is with the international law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP. Ninety percent of Mr. Hull's practice is devoted to litigation.

Administrative Law Judge Christopher R. Inama (On Leave)

Lincoln Faculty since 2006. Critical Thinking for the Lawyers.

Judge Inama graduated from UC Santa Barbara and received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. In addition he has an Masters in Economics from CSU Hayward and an LL.M. (International Legal Studies) from Golden Gate University. Prior to his appointment as an administrative law Judge, he practiced for many years in San Mateo County primarily in the writs and appeals areas. He also served as research attorney for the Santa Clara County Superior Court (Civil). He has previously taught at Golden Gate University.

Guyton N. Jinkerson

Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Advanced Criminal Law.

A graduate of Golden Gate University with a B.A. and J.D. he has been long recognized as one of the area's finest criminal defense attorneys. In 1987 the California Supreme Court recognized him as having: " . . . extensive experience in homicide trials . . . " People v. Ledesma (1987) 43 Cal. 3d 177, 203. He has taught in numerous civil and criminal trial advocacy programs, including those at Stanford, USF, Santa Clara and Hastings. Listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 1987, he has argued cases before the California Supreme Court (People v. Alday (1974) 10 Cal.3d 392) and California Appellate Courts (Reynaud v. Superior Court (1982) 138 Cal. App. 3d 1; Shamburger v. Superior Court (1984) 160 Cal. App. 3d 484; People v. Superior Court (Kirby) (2003) 114 Cal. App. 4th 102).

 
Ashu Kalra
Lincoln Faculty since 1991. Race & The Law.
Mr. Kalra received his B. A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his J. D. from Georgetown University. Mr. Kalra currently is a felony trial attorney for the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office and is also a member of the Planning Commission for the City of San Jose.  He has taught Race and the Law at the University and Law School levels for a number of years and is both a respected attorney and scholar.

Terence M. Kane
Lincoln Faculty since 1991. Uniform Commercial Code.
Mr. Kane received his B. S., Magna Cum Laude, from Santa Clara University, his B.Phil. from Oxford University, and his J. D., Order of the Coif, from University of Southern California. Mr. Kane was formerly a partner in the law firm of Wintle & Kane, specializing in business litigation and now serves as a Consultant with Wells Fargo Bank.  Mr. Kane has also taught in the paralegal program at West Valley College.

Charles T. Kilian

Lincoln Faculty since 1984. Advanced Contracts; Land Use.

Mr. Kilian received his A.B. from Occidental College and his J.D. from the University of Michigan. He is, and has been for years the City Attorney, City of Cupertino and counsel to a number of government agencies, including West Valley Sanitation District of Santa Clara County; and the East Bay Dischargers Authority.

Donald E. J. Kilmer, Jr.
Lincoln Faculty since 2001. Constitutional Adjudication.
Mr. Kilmer received his B. A. from San Jose State University and his J. D. from Lincoln University of Law. He is currently in private practice, specializing in public interest Constitutional lawsuits brought by individuals against government.

Sam Ki-Bum Kim (On Leave)

Mr. Kim has a B. A. from Pacific Union College and a M. S. from Golden Gate University where he also received his J. D.

Martin W.  King

Lincoln Faculty since 2001. Director, Independent Studies Program. A graduate of USF where he received his B.S. degree and Lincoln Law School of San Jose where he received his J.D. degree with honors Mr. King is a practicing attorney specializing in criminal defense. As an undergraduate, he played football at USC on scholarship. A former police officer, Mr. King has been instrumental in developing the School’s Academic Support Program.


Jeffrey A. Kroeber
Lincoln Faculty since 1982. Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law.
Mr. Kroeber received his B. A., Cum Laude, from Williams College and his J. D. from Hastings College of the Law. He retired from the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office where he served as a Senior Trial Attorney. Mr. Kroeber has taught similar courses at Santa Clara University School of Law.

Mindy LeVu

Lincoln Faculty since 2007. Civil Procedure.

B.A. Saint Mary’s College of California (cum laude). M.A. Saint Mary’s College of California (high honors for thesis). J.D. Santa Clara University School of Law (Witkin andCali Awards for Academic Excellence). Supervising Law Clerk to Hon. James Ware U.S. District Court, Northern District of California since 2005. Ms. LeVu has previously taught at Golden Gate University School of Law and prior to her elevation to faculty served as a teaching assistant to Judge Ware.


Roland Lie
Lincoln Faculty since 2003. California Landlord/Tenant Law.
Mr. Lie received his A. S. in Real Estate from City College of San Francisco and his B. S. in International Marketing from San Francisco State University.  He received his J. D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He is the principal attorney of the Law Offices of Roland Lie and specializes in litigation and mediation involving Landlord/Tenant, S. F. Residential Rent Control, Real Estate, Mortgage, and Contract disputes. Mr. Lie is also a licensed California Real Estate and Mortgage broker with more than 25 years of experience in the handling of sales transactions, property management and mortgage brokerage services in commercial and residential real estate.  He is also a certified mediator of the California Association of Realtors and the Community Boards Program in San Francisco.

Superior Court Judge Richard J. Loftus, Jr.
Lincoln Faculty since 1997. California Special Needs Courts.
Judge Loftus received his B. A. and a M. A. In Labor Economics from the University of Detroit and received his J. D., With a concentration in labor law, from the University of Michigan. Formerly a partner with the management labor law firm of Littler Mendelson Fastiff Tichy & Mathiason, P. C. and the President of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, Judge Loftus was appointed to the Santa Clara County Superior Court where he currently presides. Judge Loftus has lectured extensively and co-authored several publications on issues related to employment and labor law.

Hollis L. Logue, III

Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Drafting Complex Instruments.

He received his Juris Doctorate valedictorian from Lincoln Law School of San Jose in 1987.  His law practice is devoted to estate planning and taxation.  He does extensive lecturing in the field of estate planning.  Prior to becoming an attorney, he taught in the public school system. 


Peter MacLaren
Lincoln Faculty since 2001. Academic Support Program.
Mr. MacLaren received a B. S., Cum laude from the University of Idaho and a M. S. in Taxation from Golden Gate University where he also received his J. D. He is a Certified Public Accountant with a specialization in Tax and is currently a research attorney for the San Mateo County superior Court.


Clark G.  Malak                                                                                   

Lincoln Faculty since 2006. Comparative Constitutional Law

 A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he was a Regent Scholar and of Princeton University where he received a Masters Degree in Near Eastern Studies. He earned a JD from Boalt Hall. Mr. Malak was associated with Sherman & Howard (Denver) and Littler & Mendelson (San Jose).  Admitted to the California and Colorado Bars (where examination was waived as a consequence of his high scores on the California General Bar Examination). He has previously taught at the college level. Currently with TOC Management as an attorney, he has had a life long interest in comparative constitutional law. An immigrant at 17 from Cairo, Egypt, his graduate work at Princeton focused, in part, on Middle Eastern legal issues. A student of the U.S. Constitution and also of the sociopolitical structures of various Middle Eastern countries, and one who is fluent in Arabic and who has translated numerous articles from Arabic to English in the course of writing his Masters’ thesis, Mr. Malak is uniquely suited to the challenges inherent in a comparative constitutional analysis between two countries vastly different in sociopolitical structure.    

Aila Malik

Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Juvenile Law.

Ms. Malik earned a JD from Santa Clara Law School and is member of the California Bar.  At Santa Clara she was a recipient of the Dean Emery Scholarship for academic achievement and a member of Honors Moot Court Board, Advocate journalist, and the Vice-President of Women and Law Society. Ms. Malik has a B.S. from the University of California at Santa Barbara in Environmental Science and minors in both professional writing and music.  She has served as Law Program Director of Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) for the past two years where she has specialized in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, updating Legal Eagle’s curriculum, and serving as the liaison between our referring partners in the juvenile justice and school systems, as well as the wider nonprofit community.  Aila led FLY’s efforts to design and launch the Legal Advocacy Project and successfully obtained seed funding from the Berkeley Law Foundation to pay for her salary. Before her current position, Aila served as a FLY’s Peer Leader Case Manager where she worked with high-risk youth, helping them set personal goals, complete their probation contracts, graduate from high school, and go onto college or find a vocation. 


James G. Mantell
Lincoln Faculty since 1989. Criminal Law.
Mr. Mantell received his A. B. from University of California, Berkeley and his J. D. from Hastings College of the Law. Formerly a Deputy District Attorney in Santa Clara County, Mr. Mantell while in private practice specialized in criminal defense.

James E. McIlvain

Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Director of Laptop Examinations.

Mr. McIlvain received his B.S. from Yale University, an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and his J.D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose. Prior to attending law school, he worked for many years as an executive with IBM in its "mainframe" computer division.


Superior Court Judge Kevin E. McKenney
Lincoln Faculty since 1998. California Civil Procedure.
Judge McKenney received his B. A. from California State University, Hayward and his J. D. from University of San Francisco School of Law. After many years as a litigator in private practice, Judge McKenney was appointed to the Santa Clara County Municipal Court and later the Superior Court, where he currently presides.

Joseph H. Moless, Jr., Dean
Lincoln Faculty since 1967. Mortgages and Business Organizations.
Dean Moless received his B. A. In Political Science from San Jose State University. He received his J. D., from Hastings College of the Law where he served on the Law Review Editorial Board, was a Sutro Scholar and was awarded membership in the Order of the Coif. After graduating from Hastings, Dean Moless served as a Law Clerk for the Presiding Justices of the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District. In his private practice, Dean Moless dealt with closely-held businesses and real estate matters primarily in matters involving shopping centers. He appeared before the United States Supreme Court in PruneYard Shopping Center v. Robins. While in private practice, Dean Moless represented all but one of the regional retail shopping centers in the County of Santa Clara.  Most recently Dean Moless pled, tried and appealed a constitutional law case that made its way to the California Supreme Court. In addition to the Dean's long association with Lincoln Law School, where he now teaches Business Organizations, he has also taught Constitutional Law, Contracts, and Real Estate Secured Transactions. He has taught at Golden Gate University School of Law, Santa Clara University School of Law and University of San Francisco School of Law.


Craig E. Needham (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 1994. Products Liability; Advanced Torts.
Mr. Needham received his B. A. from Santa Clara University and his J. D. from Hastings College of the Law. He is currently a partner in the law firm of Needham, Davis, Kirwan & Young, LLP specializing in tort actions. Mr. Needham has also taught at Golden Gate University School of Law, Hastings College of the Law, Santa Clara University School of Law, University of San Francisco School of Law, in the Hastings College of Trial and Appellate Advocacy, and lectured extensively and co-authored numerous publications on issues of tort law. He has been recognized by several publications as one of the state's finest torts attorneys.  Mr. Needham is also recognized as an outstanding mediator and arbitrator.

Duyen H. Nguyen, Associate Dean of Academics

Mr. Nguyen received his M. S. from the University of Saigon and his J. D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose with Honors.  He was a Resettlement Office Coordinator for United Nations in Indonesia, served as a Manager with the County of Santa Clara and is now in private practice.


Workers' Compensation Judge Adoralida Padilla
Lincoln Faculty since 2002. Workers' Compensation Law.
Judge Padilla received her B. A. from the University of Santa Clara and her J. D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose. She is a Workers' Compensation Judge and a former managing partner of a well known Santa Clara county Workers' Compensation law firm. She is active in many civil groups, including membership in La Raza Lawyer's Association of Santa Clara County.

Laura A. Palazzolo
Lincoln Faculty since 2004.  Real Property. 

Ms. Palazzolo has an undergraduate degree from San Jose State University and her J. D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose. She is an Associate with the San Jose law firm Berliner Cohen.

Richard R. Pedersen
Lincoln Faculty since 2003. Moot Court; Negotiation and Mediation. Mr. Pedersen received his undergraduate degree from California State University, Long Beach and his J. D. from Southwestern University School of Law.  He is in private practice where he specializes in the defense of cases dealing with products liability and medical malpractice.

Superior Court Judge Philip H. Pennypacker (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Honors Moot Court.
Judge Pennypacker received his B. A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his J. D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.  He is a past President of the Santa Clara Bar Association and served as Executive Director of the California Public Defenders Association prior to being appointed to the bench.  When serving as President of the Law Foundation, he was instrumental in helping establish the Pro Bono Project of Santa Clara County. 

William G. Priest

Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Real Estate Financing.

Mr. Priest is a trial and transaction attorney practicing in San Jose. He previously served as President of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, Presiding Hearing Officer for the San Jose Civil Service Commission, and now serves on the Boards of the Bay Area Legal Aid Corp. and the Silicon Valley Campaign for Legal Services. He has taught the courses in Real Estate Financing for the California Continuing Education of the Barfor many years. He graduated from Washington State University and earned a J.D. from the University of Idaho. In Idaho he served as a County Justice Court Judge.

 
William J. Purdy, III

Mr. Purdy received his B. S., with Highest Honors from Oregon State University, his J. D. from Stanford Law School, and his LL .M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.  Formerly an attorney with the law firm of Liccardo, Rossi, Sturges & McNeil, Mr. Purdy is currently in private practice, specializing in tax matters.

Kevin B. Romano

Lincoln Faculty since 2007. Family Law; Community Property.

Mr. Romano received his B.A. from University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from the University of California's Hastings College of the Law. He practices with the San Jose law firm Chung & Romano where he specializes in Family Law matters.


Ronald I. Rossi (On Leave)
Lincoln Faculty since 2002. Real Property Sales Contracts.
Mr. Rossi received his B. S. from San Jose State University and his J. D. from Hastings College of the Law. He is one of the State's most successful and well known real estate attorneys. His list of publications includes serving as Contributing editor of the college text, Financing Real Estate in California. Mr. Rossi is also a frequent contributor to Continuing Education of the Bar Real Estate publications and is the real estate law columnist for the San Jose Mercury-News.

Julie S. Saffren.

Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Seminar in the Law of Domestic Violence.

B.S. Rochester Institute of Technology; J.D. Santa Clara University School of Law.

A sole practitioner, Ms. Saffren is a member of The Family Law Executive Committee of the Santa Clara Bar Association, the Family Law Executive Committee of the State Bar of California, and the Santa Clara County Domestic Violence Council. She developed the curriculum and co-taught the Seminar in Domestic Violence at Santa Clara. Prior to, during and after law school she also served as a Product and Senior Program Manager at Sun Microsystems.


James A. Scharf
Lincoln Faculty since 2001. Remedies.
Mr. Scharf received his B. A., Cum laude from Vanderbilt University and his J. D. from Emory School of Law. He as served as Law Clerk to a Federal District Judge, and was a litigation associate at Squire, Sanders, Dempsey as well as Cooley Godward and served as Deputy City Attorney for the City of San Jose. He is presently an Assistant United States attorney. Mr. Scharf was elected in 2004 to the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California.

Thomas Schneck

Mr. Schneck received an A. B. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his J. D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. Mr. Schneck worked for several years as a patent engineer for the University of California Lawrence Radiation Laboratory. He has been in private practice as a patent attorney since 1971, working first as an associate for the law firm of Rosenblum, Parish & Bacigalupi of San Francisco-Palo Alto. He has served as Chairman of an ABA sub-committee on automated patent information retrieval. He is a former U.S. Air Force officer, a former trustee of Presentation High School in San Jose, and is on the Board of Visitors of Santa Clara University School of Law. Mr. Schneck serves as Chairman of the Intellectual Property Law Department at Lincoln.

Mark R. Shepherd

Lincoln Faculty since 2008. Drafting Complex Instruments.

He is a shareholder in the Palo Alto firm of Crist, Biorn & Shepherd. A graduate of San Francisco State with a B.A. in English Magna Cum Laude, he received his J.D. from Golden Gate with honors and a LL.M. (Taxation). He has previously taught at Santa Clara University School of Law and san Jose State University.


P. Carlos Singh

Mr. Singh received his B. A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and his J. D. from Georgetown University Law Center. After completing the Honors Program at the United States Department of Justice in the civil and criminal divisions, Mr. Singh joined the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California where he is currently an Assistant United States Attorney.

Richard L. Spector (On Leave)

Mr. Spector has a B. A. from the University of California Berkeley and received his J. D. from Hastings College of the Law.  He recently retired as Trial Attorney with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, S.W. Division.


Sheri L. Sudweeks

Ms. Sudweeks has an undergraduate degree from California State University, Hayward and a J. D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose.  Ms. Sudweeks is in private practice in the area of Wills and Trusts, Conservatorships and elder law.

Jonathan J. Sweet
Lincoln Faculty since 2003. Construction Law.
Mr. Sweet has an A. B. degree from the University of California Berkeley and received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.  He is currently in private practice where he specializes in Construction and Real Estate Law.  He is the author or co-author of numerous publications on Construction Litigation.

James E. Towery
Lincoln Faculty since 2002. Professional Responsibility; Honors Moot Court.
Mr. Towery received his A. B. degree from Princeton University and his J. D. from Emory University School of Law. He is a distinguished trial lawyer and has served as President of the State Bar of California as well as serving on the Board of Governors of the State Bar where he was Chair of the State Bar Discipline Committee and the State Bar ADR Task Force. He not only is a member of the ABA House of Delegates but is on the ABA Standing Committee for Client Protection. Mr. Towery is a frequent lecturer for many organizations on issues of legal ethics and professionalism.

Terry A. Trumbull

Lincoln Faculty since 2007. Environmental Law.

Mr. Trumbull received his B. A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, his J. D. from Georgetown, and his LL.M. in Urban Legal Studies from George Washington University. He teaches U.S. environmental policy at San Jose State University and sits on the Hearing Board of the Bay Area Air Quality Management Board. From 1979 to 1984 he chaired the California Waste Management Board. He formerly served as Counsel for General Electric (San Jose) Nuclear Energy Division. An authority on environmental law and the economy, he has published widely in the area.

United States District Court Judge James Ware
Lincoln Faculty since 1990. Civil Procedure; Electronic Evidence.
Judge Ware received his B. A. from California Lutheran University and his J. D. from Stanford Law School. Formerly a partner with the law firm of Blase, Valentine & Klein and a Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge, Judge Ware is currently a United States District Court Judge for the Northern District of California.

Bankruptcy Judge Arthur Weissbrodt

Lincoln Faculty since 2005. Contracts; Bankruptcy.

Judge Weissbrodt received his B.A., cum laude, from Pennsylvania State University and his J.D. from Columbia University Law School, where he was an editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law and was a student assistant to E. Allan Farnsworth, the primary editor of the classic Contracts casebook. On graduation, he served as a law clerk to Judge Edward J. Dimock of the United States District Court, Southern District of New York. He served as a trial attorney for Neighborhood Legal Services in Washington, D.C. and served as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Competition. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he was at the Department of Energy (DOE) in various supervisory and staff positions, including Senior Trial Attorney in the Office of General Counsel. While at the DOE, he supervised and conducted nearly all of the bankruptcy cases in which the DOE was a party/creditor. Judge Weissbrodt was appointed a bankruptcy judge in 1989. The appointment has been renewed for an additional 14 years. Judge Weissbrodt supervises the Northern District of California's Bankruptcy Dispute Resolution Program. He has sat as a judge pro tem on the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, serves on the Board of Directors and as Program Chairperson of the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum, and is a frequent speaker at local and national bar associations and bankruptcy programs.

Tod I. Zuckerman
Lincoln Faculty since 2001. Insurance Law.
Mr. Zuckerman received his B. A., with highest honors from the University of Southern California and his J. D. from the University of California, Hastings. He is a specialist in insurance law and hazardous waste law, having represented many of the largest companies in the United States in coverage actions. He is the primary author of a four volume insurance treatise Environmental Insurance Litigation: Law and Practice.
