Lincoln Alumni Welcome Chief Public Defender and New SBA Officers

The Lincoln Alumni Association welcomed Santa Clara County Chief Public Defender Mary Greenwood  at the last Alumni Association meeting August 27. Over 35 interested Alumni and students listened as Ms. Greenwood described the challenges facing her office given these uncertain economic times.

Ms. Greenwood, a member of the Public Defender's office since 1982, was appointed Chief Public Defender in July 2005. She manages a budget of $37.5 million annually, oversees 200 employees, and represents clients in 35,000 cases annually.

The Student Bar Association Officers for this academic year are: President Ruby Sandhu 4L, Vice-President TJ Zmucki 3L, Treasurer David Luu 4L, Secretary Lisa Modena 3L, and Ombudsman Abraham Kang 4L. Congratulations to all the new officers!

Upcoming Events

The next meeting of the Alumni Association will be October 22 at 5:30 at Lincoln. We will not be meeting in November or December. The January meeting will be Thursday January 28 at 5:30 at Lincoln.

 

Welcome to the Alumni family

Lincoln Law School of San Jose has over 1,500 currently active legal practitioners throughout California. Lincoln Law School alumni have become judges, governmental officials, and successful business people. Lincoln Law School is proud to have graduated leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area legal community, including Kenneth Fung the first Chinese-American to be admitted to practice law in California; Presidential Fellow, Chris Moore of the San Jose Police Department; City Council member, Dave Cortese; Superior Court Judges Hugh F. Mullin, Ronald Lisk, and Linda Condron; Workers' Compensation Judge Adoralida Padilla; and Commissioners Harold Cole, James L. Heath and Constance Jimenez. More than 17 members of the Santa Clara County Bench have studied, taught or served as trustees of Lincoln Law School of San Jose.

Each year Lincoln Law School recognizes one of our alumni who made a significant contribution to the legal profession or to the community. Recipients over the last six years are:

Alumni Involvement

Alumni can become involved in helping the school and current students in different ways. They can participate in a mentor program or present a seminar in their area of expertise. Alumni can also become active in the Alumni Association and help plan events including fund raising activities. For further information, contact the Admissions Office or call (408) 977-7227. Interested Alumni who would like to participate on the Steering Committee are encouraged to contact the association steering committee.
